Taparu making is the tradition of the ancient Indus Civilization. This tradition has been practiced for 1000s of years in this region, local people make these leaf plates with SAL tree leaves and Bamboo sticks. Communities in Nepal and India have been using Sal leaves plates for Social gatherings, Religious & spiritual festivals, and in daily life.
Sal tree has significant importance in Ayurveda medicine. Its leaves are believed to be helpful in healing of swollen joints when warmed up and applied in swollen parts, by soaking of Sal leaves in water over night and drinking the water is believed to provide relief from to children from dysentery.
